iUniv – Message from Japan
On March 11, 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake – one of the largest in history - hit Japan’s northern and eastern regions. Our hearts go out to the ones who have been affected.
As for ourselves, two members from Castalia, the company that develop the iUniv/Schooly platforms, were visited by the earthquake in Tsukuba, the city near one of the epicenters, while making their presentations at an academic conference. After experiencing a very strong quake that lasted more than five minutes, they spent the night at an evacuation center, still shaken by a string of strong aftershocks.
The Pacific coast is suffering from brutal and tremendous damages. Nuclear plants have been affected as well; highly strained situation continues. Due to severe shortage of electricity, power outage is being scheduled in Tokyo. This is literally a state of emergency.
iUniv will continue to operate during scheduled power outages. We will also start providing audio/visual contents that may be useful for people who have been affected, as well as other contents that promote a better understanding to the earthquake, nuclear plants, energy saving, etc.
Let us all overcome this unprecedented difficulty with our wisdom, knowledge, and strong ties.
